How we sort

Last updated: 30 October 2026

This page explains what decides the order when you search for cars on BilPorten. There are no hidden rules: what it says here is what the site does.

The default order

When you haven't chosen a sort order yourself, featured listings come first. That is paid placement, and they are always labelled “Ad · Featured”. If there are several featured cars, they take turns at the very top, so it isn't always the same car.

After that come all other listings, newest first. They are all treated the same: it makes no difference whether the seller is a private person or a dealer, or which subscription a dealer has.

When you choose the order yourself

If you choose a sort order yourself – newest, price, mileage or year – there is no paid placement. The cars are then shown only in the order you asked for. A featured car sits in the same place as any other, but still carries its label.

What is a featured listing?

A dealer can feature a car for 48 hours at a time. Featured listings come with the dealer subscriptions, and they are the only paid placement among the search results. A featured car is only shown if it matches your search.

The front page and banner ads

The front page shows the newest cars. Up to three of the spots can be featured cars – with the same label.

Between the search results there may be banner ads from our partners. They are always labelled “Ad” and have no influence on the order of the cars.
